Towards Global Holocaust - Feuersturm CD 2010 (Scattered to the Winds Productions) Review by Sleepwalker of Forbidden Magazine http://forbidden-magazine.com/2010/10/towards-global-holocaust-feursturm/ The agonizing screams of the dead and the dying are all around you. A thick fog of endless smoke blackens your lungs and burns your eyes. At any moment, your head could be removed from an unseen enemy’s shot in the dark. Racked with fear, you march on into the Feuersturm. The nine battles that make up Towards Global Holocaust’s first full length album, Feuersturm, are straight from the trenches of Hell. Soaked in the blood of both enemies and comrades alike, Feuersturm attacks with a ferocity that can only be the result of the maddening realization that, in this war, there is nothing left to lose. The vocal/guitar/bass work of RF is nothing short of disturbing and utterly aggressive. Check out the atrocity that is Flamenwerfer, complete with a haunting bridge that fills you with dread after your flesh has long been melted away. Relentless battery from Blaash (Bahimiron) ensures the air raids will continue throughout the night, only slowing down to reload. The pained screams on tracks such as Approaching Global Genocide flash suppressed memories of blood-drenched bodies and send a chill up your spine while the sharp-as-a-razor guitar leads shave the faith from your flesh. Like I had mentioned in a recent review of Towards Global Holcaust’s split release with Christ Dismembered, from which two tracks are presented again on Feuersturm, the guitar and drums are solid, thrashing with an honest old school madness. The songs themselves, however, are rather disjointed and free-form, moving between passages that make separating the songs difficult but reflect the nature of the music and the ‘war-themed’ material. The use of clean guitar lines and solos keeps you wondering where the next attack will come from. Feuersturm is a great album that showcases what Towards Global Holocaust is all about, and is easily their best effort yet. Get your gun and bring plenty of bullets . . . your going to need them!
Towards Global Holocaust / Christ Dismembered - Upon Firmaments of Sacrilege and Genocide pro-CDr (Disease Foundry Recordings) Review by Forbidden Magazine: “The fog of war clouds your mind as the bullets rip past your skull. Familiar voices scream in the distance from unseen horrors. Your knees give out, dumping your wasted carcass to the battlefield . . .” So opens the punishing split release, Towards Global Holocaust vs. Christ Dismembered. A raw production, solid performances, and a callous attitude for all things living, make this release a must-have for all misanthropes and war mongers. Holocaust SS, the first of four from Towards Global Holocaust, draws first blood on Side Genocide. All tracks begin well with a thick, palm-muted guitar riff, reminiscent of thrash classics armored with denim and leather. These trappings are soon turned to ash as the battle begins, leaving the victim only to guess how they will meet their end. Issuing Forth the Decree of Blood and Fire is as relentless as napalm, burning into your flesh with the moaning despair typically found only in good DSBM. Each of these songs contains progressive and meaningful bridges, powerful guitar work, and razor-tongued vo-kills, standing strong on the front lines of extreme metal! Drifting above the now-silent battlefield, Christ Dismembered have come to claim the dead. The project of Bahirimon main-man Grimlord, Christ Dismembered waste no time on Side Sacrilege. The Chambers of Decay, overflowing with rotting flesh, gut-wrenching guitar riffs and hammering drums, blasts open the disfigured corpses of poseur death bands everywhere. This is the type of metal madness that poseurs fear: unintelligible vocals, no flashy performances, lo-fi production, and crushing death delivered without compromise. The eponymous track, Christ Dismembered, tears through the tomb, up from the earth, and out into the night to haunt the living. The vocals are just unholy, and each track contains at least one section that — BOOM-BOOM-BOOM — pounds into your chest, puncturing organs with fractured ribs. After all the smoke is cleared from the battlefield and the last drop of blood has dried, few will live to tell the tale of the dark union of Towards Global Holocaust and Christ Dismembered. Though their respective styles differ greatly, the means to the end matter little. The spoils of war will be only the souls of the dead . . . and few should be disappointed… In Death I Become - Black Wings, Grey Skies (Scattered to the Winds Productions) Review by Vorfeed: Artist: In Death I Become
This is the third full-length album from In Death I Become, an American band playing death/doom metal. The production on this album is thick and suitably murky, with a heavy, fuzzy rhythm guitar tone and a more classic, clean sound for the lead guitars. The snarled vocals are perfectly situated in the mix, as are the occasional clean vocal parts. The crisp drum sound is also great. This time around, the bass is a bit easier to make out, as well. Black Wings, Grey Skies is a huge leap forward from the band's last album. The shorter, more aggressive songs that open the album are the perfect complement to the crushing atmosphere this band developed on The Splendour of Emptiness. Both the riffing and solos have reached a new level, also -- this record is jam-packed with memorable guitar parts. "Wolfskin Demons" is a perfect example; the triumphant main riff on this song is fucking huge, as is the tormented vocal performance! The tempo changes lend this song even more power, and the lyrics are just plain amazing. I could listen to this track on repeat forever, it's that good. The doomy atmosphere from the last album is in evidence, too: "Horns Filled With Blood" slows things down a bit, with a massive spoken-word section and killer lead work, and then "Raven's Bread" follows it up with some even slower parts. Great drumming on that one. "Merciless Solitude" is another favorite of mine; the tempo changes on this track are brilliant, and its sprawling, off-kilter guitar work and powerful dual vocals are the perfect way to close out the album. Black Wings, Grey Skies sounds like a doom-laden combination of mid-period Destroyer 666 and Slough Feg: epic and intelligent, yet catchy and heavy as hell! Highly recommended. Standout tracks: "Wolfskin Demons", "Horns Filled With Blood", "Merciless Solitude"
In Death I Become- Black Wings, Grey Skies - CD (Scattered to the Wind Productions) Review by Absolute Zero Media: This is very bombastic and thrashing in nature. In Death I Become do have a Death metal over tone but they root themselves much more in the extreme heavy thrash side of music that came out of Germany think Sodom and Kreator with Death metal vocals as this is really what I'm hearing. The production is very raw and very bassy but it works for the ultra heavy sound they are trying to create. I reminds me a lot of the band Deceased mixed with elements of the Mid period Marduk when they were not so blistering. Also I maybe crazy but I could swear to the Gods above that In Death I Become has a strong love for early Motley Crue and Metallica in the way the guitars are set and sound. Then at other times the become this guttural death/black force. I'm not sure where they really want to sound . If you want a good sonic ass kick look no further...
TOWARDS GLOBAL HOLOCAUST / CHRIST DISMEMBERED – Upon Firmaments of Sacrilege and Genocide - CD (Disease Foundry) Review by Absolute Zero Media: 1st off I must just remind you how underratedly amazing Towards Global Holocaust is. This is one pissed off Black Industrial Death force. There are few that play this fast, angry and allow the occult and experimental sounds to meld within their style so mindnumbingly strong. The vocal lines are those of a mental patient off of there meds for who knows how long. Again with many bands that are so far out there there is a strong hardcore punk vibe to all that TGH do. Along with Sodom and Kreator my friends. This band should be ruling the top selling artists for labels like Osmose or Drakkar as this is where they would just be perfect for the sickness level they create. This is controlled chaos. 4 songs are just not enough from them. Now on to Christ Dismembered I don't know if I would feel the same about them the 1st track is just recorded so poorly and bassy you can hear almost nothing but bass, drums and vocals. Christ Dismembered are going more for the low end Black Death approach just is such a demo tape in sound and feeling it leaves me wanting so much more. With a better recorded product I could tell you more but if this is what they want and this is the production values that make them happy after 3 songs I'm going to have to pass. Towards Global Holocaust- Ever Onwards... - CD (Scattered to the Winds Productions) Review by Absolute Zero Media: Chaos, Madness, Suffering fucking Black Metal these are the 1st words that come to my mind when hearing this ep from Towards Global Holocaust. The vomit vocal and blast beats, raw blistering guitar, bass rumble and just the noise and whirlwind of sounds coming from the first few tracks makes me go to bands like Bahimiron this is an all out war on the world. A more perfect home would not be Moribund Cult or Drakkar in France. If you like your Metal for the end of days then look no further . There are some slow almost harmonic moments but they just add to the over all atmosphere to a world on the brink of extinction. The vocals just keep taking me to the edge of madness. Ever onwards is a Black metal release like very few other. Well worth checking out... | ||
